The adventure starts
at 9.00 am when each driver -guide picks up his passengers
at the hotel. Normally, a handicraft shop is used as meeting
place to encounter the other Jeeps arriving from different
hotels of the Island. As soon as everybody has
arrived, the tour leader welcomes the group and explains to
the visitors the day's program.
The colorful and
typical caravan leaves the National Park Cerro El Copey. We
stop at 650 m altitude at a watch out point to get informed
about the flora and fauna of the place, take pictures and
movies and share the first drinks of the day to the sound of
beautiful music . We follow our journey down the west side
of Cerro Copey, pass through the Valle de Espíritu Santo
towards the National Park Laguna La Restinga. There, a boat
is waiting for us to take us to a beautiful ride through the
mangrove labyrinth. The drivers are waiting for their
passengers with delicious drinks, spectacular and contagious
music, chokes, stories, anecdotes and dance, creating the
next generation of anecdotes. Now, it is time for lunch. A
typical and cozy restaurant waits on the beach with a
delicious menu. Before we leave again there is time for a
swim or a walk on the extensive beach of Punta Arenas, or,
why not, an ambitious volleyball match drivers-tourists,
that promises to add some action and entertainment to the
day. And now, get ready, because the very best is about to
come!
The 4X4 adventure
begins to get to "La Carmela". We climb mountains to reward
ourselves with spectacular panoramic views… vertigo and
excitement are a constant factors during this part of the
journey. Here the agility and ability of the drivers
manifests itself, which perform these acts daily to the
delight of our visitors. After this fantastic rustic ride, a
bath at La Carmela beach is a most attractive and relaxing
option.
Returning, we stop
at "Coco Loco" give our passengers the opportunity to sample
the delicious "Cocada" or the classic "Coco Frío". The sun
is setting. We are getting to the end of our Jeep Safari.
Time to relax; this is the moment to enjoy the most
spectacular and unforgettable sunset. And because there is a
time for anything, the time of the Jeep Safaris comes to an
end with an emotive good by, where the tour leader recounts
the days events and gives his thanks for having joined us to
form part of our history. This is the best way to show and
share the natural beauties of our region to the tourists,
offering them optimal service and getting them in touch with
our culture.
